Privacy and your data
What Jompter keeps on your Mac, what leaves it and when, and what you control: audio, screenshots, prompts, usage counts and account data.
What stays on your Mac
By default, everything you make:
- Prompts — files on this machine. No sync, no web view.
- Screenshots — three WebP files per capture, in Jompter's application support folder.
- Video recordings and their frames — on disk, exported to
~/Documents/jompter/exports. - Dictation history — the audio and the transcripts, kept until you clear them.
- Boards — local, unless you turn on cloud sync.
- To-dos — stored beside each prompt, on this machine.
None of it expires on its own, and Jompter does not show you how much disk it is using. The brooms are Clear all in History, Clear all in the screenshots panel, and deleting prompts, videos and boards.
What leaves your Mac, and when
| What | When it leaves | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Your voice | Only in Cloud mode | Jompter's servers, transcribed, not retained as audio |
| Text sent to a transform | Only in Cloud mode | Jompter's servers |
| Boards | Only with Keep boards in your account on | Your Jompter account |
| Your screen | Only during a Remote session | Directly to your phone. Our servers broker the connection and never see the video |
| Usage counts | On the free tier, a cloud plan or a trial — counts only, never what you captured | Jompter's servers, for metering |
In Local mode with Remote and board sync off, Jompter works with the network cable out.
AI agents on this Mac. If you turn on agent access, a coding agent running on this Mac
can read your boards — and, with the separate prompt switch, your prompts, their
screenshots and transcripts — through a local server at 127.0.0.1. That stays on this
machine, but whatever the agent does with it next is up to the agent.

The clipboard. Dictated text is left on the clipboard as well as typed, so a clipboard manager or clipboard history will keep a copy of what you said.
Credentials
- On your Mac — your session tokens and any model API keys you enter are stored encrypted, in a file tied to this machine, readable only by your user account.
- On your iPhone — in the iOS Keychain.
- On the web — your refresh token is an httpOnly cookie, which JavaScript on the page cannot read.
You can see and revoke every signed-in device from Account.
Three things to be deliberate about
Redaction blurs, it does not delete. The un-annotated screenshot keeps the original pixels. For a secret, delete the capture and take a new one. →
A board share link is public to whoever holds it. No password, no expiry — revoking is the only control. →
Anyone with your board access key can draw on your boards — and, if prompt access is on, read your prompts. →
Sharing your Mac's audio
Off by default, on purpose: system audio carries your meetings, your calls and your notifications, not just the app you meant to show. It stays on once you turn it on.
Deleting everything
Deleting your account (from the iPhone app) removes your account, sessions, paired Macs, licence, subscription and usage history from our servers. It does not touch the prompts, screenshots, recordings and boards on your Mac — those are yours to delete, and uninstalling the app leaves them behind.
Settings and defaults
Every setting in the Jompter Mac app and the value it ships with: hotkeys, speech model, frame density, Speak voice and speed, and more.
Troubleshooting
Fix Jompter problems in the order they actually happen: permissions, dictation that types nothing, models that won't load, MCP and Remote.
