Troubleshooting
Fix Jompter problems in the order they actually happen: permissions, dictation that types nothing, models that won't load, MCP and Remote.
Why did Jompter disappear when I closed the window?
You closed the window. That hides Jompter; it does not quit it. Press ⌘⇧J or click the menu bar icon.
Why does holding Right ⌘ not start dictation?
- Remote input is not granted. It is a separate permission from Accessibility, in the same System Settings pane, and it is the one that authorises typing. This is the most common cause by a distance. →
- No active plan — dictation is gated. →
- Local mode with no speech model downloaded. →
- Another app claimed Right ⌘. Rebind in Settings → General → Shortcuts.
You do not need to restart Jompter after granting Accessibility — Right ⌘ starts working within a couple of seconds.
Why does tapping Right ⌥ not start hands-free dictation?
- Check the key in Settings → General → Shortcuts → Dictate hands-free. It may have been changed or turned off; Reset to defaults puts it back to Right ⌥. →
- Accessibility and Remote input — hands-free listens to the keyboard the same way Right ⌘ does. →
- You typed a letter while holding it. Right ⌥ with a letter is an accent (⌥E, ⌥U…) and is deliberately left alone — only a clean tap, or a hold with nothing but a click, starts dictating.
Why did my dictated text go nowhere, or into the wrong app?
Jompter types into whatever has focus at the moment the transcript is ready. If you switched apps while it was transcribing, that is where it went — use Paste last transcript to put it where you meant.
Why is Jompter's microphone not working on Mac?
Microphone permission, or macOS is listening to a different input. Check Settings → Microphone, and the microphone picker in the header.
Why did transcription accuracy change halfway through a session?
You probably hit a cloud fair-use limit and Jompter fell back to your local model without saying so. Check Usage.
Why do ⌘⇧S and ⌘⇧F take no screenshot?
Screen Recording permission. →
Why did Jompter not reopen after an update?
The update is installed; only the restart failed, and the settings row says so. Open Jompter from Applications. →
Why won't onboarding let me continue past Permissions?
All four have to read Granted. If you switched one on in System Settings and it still says Grant, click Restart under it — macOS reports some permissions only to a fresh launch, and onboarding reopens on the same step.
Why does a permission say granted but the feature still fails?
macOS caches permission decisions per binary, and an app update can leave a stale entry. In System Settings → Privacy & Security, remove Jompter from the list with −, grant it again from inside Jompter, then quit Jompter completely (menu bar → Quit Jompter) and relaunch.
Why does Speak take several seconds before anything happens?
Explain mode has to load the language model first. After the first run it is quick, until auto-free releases it — the default is 20 minutes.
Why does my video prompt have no frames in it?
Run Process before Copy. The three steps are Process → Transcribe → Copy, and nothing enforces the order. →
Why can't my agent see my prompts or to-dos?
Prompt access has its own switch, off by default, under the board agent-access switch. Turn on "…and work on your prompts", then reconnect the agent so it reloads the tool list. →
Why can't my agent see the board MCP tools?
In order: is agent access on; does curl http://127.0.0.1:8765/health answer; is the key in
your config current; claude mcp list then /mcp. And check you used 127.0.0.1 rather
than localhost. →
Why won't my phone connect to my Mac?
That has its own page: Troubleshooting Remote.
