FAQ
Short answers to the most common Jompter questions: what's free, offline use, privacy, supported Macs, MCP, Remote, licences and cloud plans.
Is Jompter free?
Yes, on your Mac. Dictation, prompts, the MCP hand-off to your coding agent, AI transforms, translation and Speak are free and unlimited. Screenshots (20 a day), screen recordings (5), boards (3) and Remote (one 10-minute session a day) are free within those limits, and a one-time licence removes them. Your first 14 days have no limits at all.
Is there a Windows version?
No. Jompter is macOS only, and Apple Silicon only — there is no Intel build either. jompter.com has a Windows waitlist.
Does it work offline?
In Local mode, yes — completely. Speech recognition, transforms and Speak all run on your Mac.
Dictation, transforms and Speak are all free and unlimited in Local mode. A cloud subscription runs the same work on our servers instead.
Do I need an account?
Yes — the free tier needs a free account, because its limits are counted per account. A lifetime licence can be used signed out.
Is my voice sent anywhere?
Only in Cloud mode. In Local mode audio never leaves the machine. See Privacy.
What happens when I hit a cloud limit?
Jompter switches to your local model and carries on. There are no overage charges. The switch is silent — Usage is where you see it.
Does a lifetime licence include the iPhone app?
Yes. Jompter Remote is free for one 10-minute session a day, and a lifetime licence, a cloud subscription or a beta grant removes the limit.
Can I move my licence to a new Mac?
Yes, at most once every 30 days. Re-activating the Mac you just left is free. →
Where are my prompts and screenshots stored?
On your Mac, in Jompter's application support folder. They do not sync and there is no web view of them.
Can I get my boards on the web?
Only if you turn on Keep boards in your account in the Mac app. It is off by default, and the web view is read-only. →
Does redaction actually remove what I covered?
No — it blurs. The original capture keeps the pixels. Delete the screenshot and retake it if it contained a secret. →
Do I have to hold a key the whole time I dictate?
No. Tap Right ⌥ to start hands-free dictation and tap it again to stop — or hold it, click into the field you want, and let go. →
Can an AI agent work through my prompt on its own?
Yes, with your sign-off. Connect it to Jompter's MCP server (named jompter) and turn on
prompt access; the agent reads the prompt and proposes to-dos, and it can only start the
ones you approve. →
I changed a shortcut and forgot the original. How do I get it back?
Settings → General → Shortcuts → Reset to defaults. The button only appears once something differs from the defaults. →
Why did I not get a notification?
Jompter does not post macOS notifications at all — not for finished transcriptions, completed downloads or incoming Remote connections.
How do I delete my account?
In the iPhone app: Settings → Delete account. →
How do I get support?
Email [email protected], or use jompter.com/support.
